The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
