He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
