The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
