The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace

By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 it is no merriment. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
