[Moses] said, "My Lord, expand for me my breast [with assurance] 25 "Ease my task for me; 26 “And untie the knot of my tongue.” 27 "So they may understand what I say: 28 “And appoint for me a viceroy from among my family.” 29 "Aaron, my brother; 30 “Back me up with him.” 31 And share my task, 32 That we may glorify Thee much 33 “And profusely remember You.” 34 You are surely seeing us' 35 [Allah] said, "You have been granted your request, O Moses. 36 "And indeed, We bestowed Our favour upon thee at a time long since past, 37 when We inspired thy mother with this inspiration: 38 'Put the baby into a chest and then throw him in the river. The river will throw him up on the shore, and then an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his will take him.' And I spread My love over you in order that you might be reared in My sight. 39 "When your sister went and said: 'Shall I show you one who will nurse him?' So We restored you to your mother, that she might cool her eyes and she should not grieve. Then you did kill a man, but We saved you from great distress and tried you with a heavy trial. Then you stayed a number of years with the people of Madyan (Midian). Then you came here according to the fixed term which I ordained (for you), O Musa (Moses)! 40 And I have attached thee to Myself. 41 Go, thou and thy brother, with My tokens, and be not faint in remembrance of Me. 42 Go both of you to Pharaoh, for he has transgressed all bounds, 43 "And speak to him mildly, perhaps he may accept admonition or fear Allah." 44 The two said:" Lord! We fear he may commit excesses against us, or transgress all bounds." 45 'Fear not,' said He. 'Surely I shall be with you, hearing and seeing. 46 So go to him and say: 'The two of us have indeed been sent by your Lord. So let the children of Israel come with us, and do not oppress them. We have come to you with a token from your Lord. Peace on him who follows the way of guidance. 47 ‘It has indeed been revealed to us that the punishment is upon the one who denies and turns away.’” 48 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Who then, O Musa (Moses), is the Lord of you two?" 49 He said, 'Our Lord is He who gave everything its creation, then guided it.' 50 [Pharaoh] said, "Then what is the case of the former generations?" 51 He said: The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a Record. My Lord neither erreth nor forgetteth, 52 Who made the earth for you an expanse and made for you therein paths and sent down water from the cloud; then thereby We have brought forth many species of various herbs. 53 Eat and pasture your cattle; most surely there are signs in this for those endowed with understanding. 54
