The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and banana trees, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
