Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a lofty Garden 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
