The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
