The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory; 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be, 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and he who corrupts it is sure to fail. 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
