The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif-Lam-Ra; these are verses of the Book and the bright Qur’an. 1 Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand. 4 no people can forestall their doom, nor can they delay it. 5 And they say: O thou unto whom the Reminder is revealed, lo! thou art indeed a madman! 6 Why dost thou not bring before us angels, if thou art a man of truth? 7 But We send down the angels only to bring justice and then they will not be reprieved. 8 It is We who sent down the Koran, and We watch over it. 9 Indeed, We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad SAW) amongst the sects (communities) of old. 10 But never once an apostle came to them at whom they did not scoff. 11 We place in the hearts of sinners (disbelief). 12 They do not believe in the Truth and they exactly follow the tradition of the ancient (unbelievers) 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 yet would they say, 'Our eyes have been dazzled; nay, we are a people bewitched!' 15
