Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
