Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 And those [clouds] carrying a load [of water] 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 your ideas are confused. 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They slept very little during the night 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
