Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
