Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
