The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
