Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
