By the sun and his brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be, 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
