The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
