۞ Say those who look not to encounter Us, 'Why have the angels not been sent down on us, or why see we not our Lord?' Waxed proud they have within them, and become greatly disdainful. 21 There will be no good tidings for the guilty on the day they see the angels; and they will cry out, "Keep away, keep away!" 22 And We shall turn to whatever deeds they (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust. 23 The inhabitants of the Garden will have the best residence and the finest lodging on that Day. 24 And (remember) the Day when the heaven shall be rent asunder with clouds, and the angels will be sent down, with a grand descending. 25 That Day, the dominion as of right and truth, shall be (wholly) for (Allah) Most Merciful: it will be a Day of dire difficulty for the misbelievers. 26 and a Day on which the evildoer will bite his hands [in despair,] exclaiming: "Oh, would that I had followed the path shown to me by the apostle! 27 Ah! woe unto me! Would that I had never taken such a one for a friend! 28 He indeed led me astray from the Remembrance, after it had come to me; Satan is ever a forsaker of men.' 29 And the Apostle will say: my Lord! verily my people took this Qur'an as a thing to be shunned. 30 And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the sinners and sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and a Helper. 31 And those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur'an not revealed to him all at once?" Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have spaced it distinctly. 32 And (there is another wisdom in this: whenever they brought to you an odd thing (or a strange question), We sent its right answer to you in time and explained it all in the best manner, 33 Those who will be driven headlong into hell will have a terrible dwelling; they have certainly gone astray. 34
