And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 and sailed away in a laden ship, wherein people cast lots. Because he lost, he was thrown into the water. 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 Had he not been one of those who acknowledge the glory of God, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 and We caused a gourd tree to grow over him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand, rather they exceeded. 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. – 151 Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars. 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 What, and will you not remember? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 And some people have invented a kinship between Him and all manner of invisible forces although [even] these invisible forces know well that, verily, they [who thus blaspheme against God] shall indeed be arraigned [before Him on Judgment Day: for] 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 for, verily, neither you [blasphemers] nor the objects of your worship 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 "There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.) 164 We stand in ranks (for prayer) 165 and, verily, we too extol His limitless glory!" 166 What though they would say, 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles: 171 That they would be helped, 172 And [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome. 173 So turn thou from them for a while, 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 176 But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned. 177 And leave them for a time. 178 And watch, for they will soon see. 179 Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, above what they describe. 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds! 182
