The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
