He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you ignore him. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
