1/2 Hizb 33
< random >
۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 Some among them said, “We heard a youth speak ill of them the one called Ibrahim.” 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham? 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 [But] We said: O fire! Be thou cool, and [a source of] inner peace for Abraham!" 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 We took Abraham and Lot safely to the land in which We had sent blessings to the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 We encompassed him in Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
