Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayst be (one) of the warners, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter into the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful torment; 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
