The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Merciful One 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 He created man 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 That ye should not trespass in respect of the balance. 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
