The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You will become three categories: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And have made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
