He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to a rich man, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he feareth 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
