So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
