Nay! By the moon 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to humankind, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
