The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
