The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
