Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
