The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
