The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
