Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
