and We delivered the Children of Israel from the humbling chastisement, 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 And We exalted them over the other people knowingly, 32 And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them. 33 Even then they say: 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba' and those who came before them? We destroyed them, because they were guilty of sin. 37 And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 The Day when no relation will avail a relation at all, nor will they be helped - 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
