The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And children present [with him] 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then looked he, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
