Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 That day will faces be resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 and calf is inter-twined with calf. 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
