The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
