The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude of those of old 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
