“O Noble Messengers, eat good clean things, and do good deeds; I know all that you do.” 51 And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). 52 But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing. 53 So leave them immersed in their heedlessness till an appointed time. 54 Think they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We provide them 55 We are hastening them on to good things? Aye! they perceive not. 56 Verily those who for fear of their Lord are in awe. 57 and believe in His messages 58 who associate none with their Lord in His Divinity, 59 And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return, 60 Are the ones who hasten to goodness and outpace the others. 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 Yet their hearts are oblivious of this; and besides, they are busy with other things, 63 until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. They will then begin to groan. 64 Cry not for succor this day; surely you shall not be given help from Us. 65 My verses were recited to you, but you turned upon your heels, 66 being proud against it, talking foolishness by night. 67 Have they not pondered the matter, or did that come to them, which did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or is it, perchance, that they have not recognized their Apostle, and so they disavow him? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 Were the Truth to follow their desires, the order of the heavens and the earth and those who dwell in them would have been ruined. Nay, the fact is that We have brought to them their own remembrance; and yet it is from their own remembrance that they are turning away. 71 Or, do you ask a tribute from them? Your Lord's tribute is better. He is the Best of providers. 72 You are surely calling them to the right path. 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way. 74 ۞ Even if We showed them mercy and relieved them of their afflictions, they would still persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 We struck them with torment, but they did not submit themselves to their Lord, nor did they make themselves humble 76 until We opened upon them the door of a severe chastisement. Then lo, in this state they become utterly despaired of any good. 77
