Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days – so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
