He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attend to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
