The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
