The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills - the Lord of the Creation. 29
