The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 The Romans are vanquished, 2 In a land close by; but they, (even) after (this) defeat of theirs, will soon be victorious- 3 In some few years. Allah's is the command, before and after. And on that day the believers will rejoice. 4 at the victory granted by Allah. He grants victory to whomsoever He pleases. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 5 The promise of Allah! Allah does not fail His promise, yet most people do not know. 6 they only know the outward appearance of the life of this world, and they are neglectful of the Hereafter. 7 Ponder they not in their minds: Allah hath not created the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain save with a purpose and for a term appointed? And verily many men in the meeting of their Lord are unbelievers. 8 Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them? They were stronger than these in power, and they dug the earth and built upon it more than these have built. Messengers of their own came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). Surely Allah wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves. 9 Therefore evil was the end of those who did evil, for they denied the signs of God and made fun of them. 10
