The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
