The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You will become three categories: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
