Kill not your children for fear of want: We shall provide sustenance for them as well as for you. Verily the killing of them is a great sin. 31 And come not near unto adultery. Lo! it is an abomination and an evil way. 32 And do not wrongfully kill any living being which Allah has forbidden; and for whoever is slain wrongfully, We have given the authority to his heir, so he should not cross limits in slaying; he will surely be helped. 33 Do not go near the orphans' property, except with the best of intentions, until they reach maturity. Keep your promises; you will be called to account for every promise which you have made! 34 Fill the measure when ye measure, and weigh with a right balance; that is meet, and better in the end. 35 And pursue not that of which thou hast no knowledge; for every act of hearing, or of seeing or of (feeling in) the heart will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning). 36 And walk not in the earth exultant. Lo! thou canst not rend the earth, nor canst thou stretch to the height of the hills. 37 The evil of all this is odious in thy Sustainer's sight: 38 That is of the wisdom thy Lord set not up with God another god, or thou wilt be cast into Gehenna, reproached and rejected. 39 HAS, THEN, your Sustainer distinguished you by [giving you] sons, and taken unto Himself daughters in the guise of angels? Verily, you are uttering a dreadful saying! 40
