۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 Are we not then to die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
