The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
